Community Outreach
Why don’t the churches do more to involve the community in activities and bring neighbors together?
- Right now we are operating a food pantry in coordination with other ministries in the Columbia area to provide basic emergency needs for those in the community needing that kind of help.
- We sponsor the meetings of the Capitol View Area Neighborhood Associations (CVANA) on our campus. CVANA brings the county sheriff’s department, elected officials, and neighbors together to identify and work on issues relevant to all.
- SEC conducts a weekly single-moms ministry. This ministry identifies principles drawn from scripture that a single mom can use to grow spiritually and emotionally while providi for her children.
- We are finishing our second Financial Peace University (see daveramsey.com for more information on this program) seminar and will hold our third in the spring of 2015. This program teaches the participants how to totally get out of debt and build wealth. The emphasis is on being generous with that wealth once accumulated.
